How to match nail polish color to a dress?
Ok, my homecoming is Friday. I want to paint my nails (duh.). But I have a problem! My dress is a really pale gold color, and I don't want to outshine it by painting my nails a bold color like red. I'm thinking a neutral might work, but I can't think of a pretty one :[
ideas? How to match nail polish color to a dress?
You should either get a french manicure, which is basic but still awesome....clear but glittery, so it isn't outshining your dress but it isn't just clear....or a light brown-ish color so that it matches but doesn't kill your totally awesome outfit.
Hope it helps!

How to match nail polish color to a dress?
You can get a french manicure or the nail polish and put it on yourself since it goes with everything with some glitter but not to much or plain french manucure. :)
You can also get a light gold color nail polish:)
brown, silver tips. pale pink, no tips. french would work too. the drug store has glue on french tips. i prefer stick on though.
mine?

how about a pink opalescent. or u can paint each fingernail in the colors u think would go well and match the dress. when u find something u like then u can go back and get that color.
your nails aren't going to outshine your dress!!! you're in high school. be fun! be bold. i think you should paint them a nice bold color since your dress is so pale already.
you should either do a french manicure or maybe a clear polish that has sparkles in it.
maybe a nice golden brown would work well

Hawaiian punch and nail polish remover work, but...pink carpet?
so about a year ago i spilled a can of hawaiian punch all over our white carpet. I had just finished my nails and still had the nail polish remover out. When i went 2 clean the punch up with the remover it worked. No 1 ever found out. Well it happened again, but this carpet is pink. Do u think the remover will take the color out of the carpet?Hawaiian punch and nail polish remover work, but...pink carpet?

What is your favorite kind of nail polish? How much is it and where can u find it?
Rimmel brand with Teflon--stuff is amazing and not real expensive (like $4 maybe). I used to be able to find it at my local Wal-Mart, but since I moved, the store closest to me no longer carries it...SAD and TRAGIC! ;)What is your favorite kind of nail polish? My personal fave is OPI. You can find it in salons and at Ulta. I am also a fan of Essie (same places). They run about $8 a bottle. China Glaze is good too. This one runs about $6.50, but I believe it is around $4 if you have a savings card at Sally Beauty Supply.

Where I can find a nail polish that the nail turns one color and the tip another.China Glaze used to make some
I used to have a bottle that I bought from a salon. I have looked at several salons and beauty supply houses and have been unable to find any. It's just one bottle and is somehow heat activated when you apply it. The nail part that is attached to your skin underneath is one color and the tip is another because it is a cooler temp. I have long natural nails but hate the hassle of using two or three different colors to get the ';freshly manicured look';.Where I can find a nail polish that the nail turns one color and the tip another.China Glaze used to make some

What do you use to stop nail polish from chipping.?
When puting on polish after 1-2 days the polish chips off. How can you make it so it will last a week. What do you use to stop nail polish from chipping.?

A base coat and top coat will keep your polish looking fresh.
NYC makes a dual base / top coat that is very inexpensive. Put it on first before you apply your nail polish. When your polish is dry put another coat on top. This will seal it and ensure that your polish does not chip.
The idea of putting on a clear coat is good but I don't think the brand matters. If you put on one thin coat everyday faithfully, you'll preserve your polish.
base coat, that way the polish has something to adhere to. You also need to purchase a good quality polish and top coat.
Gloves?
I'm assuming that you have natural nails??? Cleanse your nails with alcohol prior to polishing. Use a lint free towel. Apply a good base coat. (Stickey by Creative is great!). Apply 2 coats of nail polish and a good top coat such as Seche Vite or Poshe. Apply a top coat every other day and remember to seal the tips of your nails with polish, this prevents chipping!

Tips to make nail polish last longer?
My nails always chip from keyboards, any hints to make it last longer?Tips to make nail polish last longer?
Before you do your first base coat of the color- apply a line at the tip of each nail (like a french tip) in the same color you will be using. This gives more strength at the tips of your nails where they are most likely to chip!Tips to make nail polish last longer?
First, and foremost. You must start any manicure with very clean nails. Use polish remover, acetone, or even rubbing alcohol on a nail wipe or cotton ball, and scrub your nails with it. This will remove the excess oils from your nails as well as any dirt or debris from filing and so on. Starting with nails that are oil and dirt free is a great way to make any polish last longer, and not chip off easily. Then, always use a good quality basecoat. Clear polish is not the same thing as a basecoat. A good basecoat will make the polish go on more smoothly, and more important - it will provide a sticky surface for the polish to adhere to. This in itself is another important step to longer lasting polish. Then apply two thin coats of polish and let dry. Finish this off with a topcoat and you will be fine. Reapply topcoat once every few days, but not too often otherwisw it will become too thick and you will have to start all over again. And that really isn't a good thing because polish remover is drying to your nails, and overuse can damage them. So, try to limit the use of polish remover to once a week or less. Oh, and try to a bit more gentle on the ketboard if you can while typing. This will help too, obviously, lol!
Good luck!
put on a base coat before you put the polish on. one its dry, put on the color. when that is dry, but on a top coat(like sally hansens Hard As Nails[available at drugstores], which is made to prevent chipping) Keep them really shiny, and chip-free by putting on the top coat every other day.
Good Luck!!!

What are some brands of vegan nail polish at stores like Shoppers Drug mart (or possibly Sephora)?
I need some vegan nail polish because I'm changing my life style. I'm going to Sephora but they're expensive. I'd prefer to get my nail polish from a drug store. If I have to i can go to Sears or the Bay anytime. I can only go to Sephora 2-3 times a year (but I've got a trip arranged for friday). What are some brands of vegan nail polish at stores like Shoppers Drug mart (or possibly Sephora)?
Congratulations on your new lifestyle. Since you are price conscious and you aren't near a vegan store, you should look online.
You will be surprised at the convenience and selection of products for you. You may pay for shipping on small orders but you will save on sales tax and competitive pricing makes it worth it.

i don't think there's anything unvegan about regular nail polish, it's mostly synthetics.

Can you use nail polish remover to take the band-aid adhesive off of someone's skin?
The *nurse* at my (5-year-old) son's pediatrician's office told me to use nail polish remover to get the sticky leftover adhesive from a band-aid off of my son's skin. This does not sound safe or healthy to me. Could some healthcare professionals confirm for me if this is right or not? Actually I would appreciate anyone's imput. I've never heard of that before. Thank you for your help!!!Can you use nail polish remover to take the band-aid adhesive off of someone's skin?
it probably wouldn't hurt, i mean you get it on your hands and fingers, and it would probably work.... use baby oil, or an oily lotion on a cotton ball... i work in the medical field and that's what I always recommend and patients tell me it works fine, and it's gentle on their skin. Can you use nail polish remover to take the band-aid adhesive off of someone's skin?
It may work, my family has always used baby oil and a q-tip, then you wash the oil off with soap and water.
Try using alcohol - that is what I do .
Soap gets almost everything off, in my experience. To be honest, if you just ignore the leftover adhesive then it will disappear in no time. It's a bit like when people write on their hands to remember things... the messages disappear after a day or two of normal washing, without special attention.
I have always used nail polish remover for myself and my children. If it concerns you, be sure to wash the area with soap afterwards.......
Yes, its accurate. You can use nail polish remover or rubbing alcohal. It doesnt hurt unless you get it in his cut.

Did the nail polish remover have acetone in it? It needs acetone to work on fabrics. It is safe for most, but not for acetate (which is kind of an uncommon fabric anyway) and maybe on polyester...can't remember for sure. After the polish remover, re-wash your clothes but don't dry them - heat could set it in.
you won't be able to get nail polish out of clothes, I tried everything but it only bleached my clothes and lightened the polish.
You must use gasoline.. That removes everything..
Soak it in gasoline, and heat dry it with a hairdryer.

skin so soft bug guard by avon. I know it sounds crazy but it works! I am a nanny and one of the little girls I take care of spilled hot pink nail polish on my khaki capris and skin so soft worked like a charm! you might be able to find it cheap on ebay or amazon.comDo Any Of You Know How To Get Finger Nail Polish Out Of Clothes?
Did the nail polish remover have acetone in it? It needs acetone to work on fabrics. It is safe for most, but not for acetate (which is kind of an uncommon fabric anyway) and maybe on polyester...can't remember for sure. After the polish remover, re-wash your clothes but don't dry them - heat could set it in.
you won't be able to get nail polish out of clothes, I tried everything but it only bleached my clothes and lightened the polish.
You must use gasoline.. That removes everything..
Soak it in gasoline, and heat dry it with a hairdryer.
i think its permanently stained
I'll be visiting KL on business, can i wear open sandals/shoes? what about toe nail polish?
In particular I'm wondering if it will be considered ';appropriate business attire';. I work in a very senior level position dealing with government and NGO's.I'll be visiting KL on business, can i wear open sandals/shoes? what about toe nail polish?

You may, if you want to, but you will not be respected.
';Appropriate business attire'; for a business lady - suite or jacket (not leather) with neck scarf and skirt, just above knee, closed shoe, i.e. toes not showing, short/medium heel....with lady brief case,,,,light makeup, and don't forget the perfume (NOT deodorent ! )......such is locally know as ';super lady'; attire.... you get looks and attention immediately !
(for non-muslim only...if muslim, wear appropriately...)
SInce you are working with on a senior level position and that you will be dealing with the government, to show your respect to our government its best you dress to represent your Professionalism. Open sandals is considered appropriate but if it goes well with the attire you intended while toe polish is not an issue in fact it shows you care about your personal hygiene and neat.
If you think it's fine just do it. But some people might not especially when you keep going around the government buildings and office.
sure...u can even wear thong slipper or stilettos.

What is best for removing nail polish from carpet?
The carpet is short berber type carpet. What is best for removing nail polish from carpet?
When you're trying to remove nail polish from fabric, carpeting or upholstered furniture, you have two problems: the first one is removing the polish and the second one is removing the color stain left in the fibers.
Both nail polish and polish remover can damage fibers seriously, especially acetate. If the spill occurred on fabric or carpets that contain acetate, you'll need to call a professional cleaner.
Pre-test area first鈥?br>
Some dyes are not colorfast to polish remover. So, before you put polish remover on a fabric, test it by applying a drop or two in an inconspicuous area. If there's no damage to the spot, use the following suggestions to remove the polish.
If the nail polish is still wet鈥?br>
Absorb as much of it as possible on a dry cloth or tissue. Be careful not to spread the stain. Then, go over the stained area with a nonflammable cleaning solvent. Apply solvent with quick, light motions. Wipe the stained area repeatedly with a cloth dampened in clear water.
If the nail polish has hardened鈥?br>
Apply polish remover to the stained area with an eyedropper. Wait a few minutes for the polish remover to penetrate and soften the polish. If necessary, repeat the treatment.
Alternative steps for removing hardened nail polish.
Using a spoon with a dull edge, scrape off as much polish as possible.
Then: apply polish remover to the stained area and blot the excess.
Go over the stained area with a cloth saturated with nonflammable cleaning fluid.
Use light, quick motions
Wipe the stained area with a cloth dampened in clear water
Don't forget, always pre-test before you use nail polish remover on any fabric or carpet. What is best for removing nail polish from carpet?
just regular nail polish remover non acetone so it doesn't bleach out the carpet use a tooth brush for the short carpet
blot with a paper towel
You don't say whether it's still wet or has dried. If it's wet, blot as much as you can and then pour ';Karpet'; or baking soda on to the stain to soak it up. Then after half an hour vaccuum it. To the remaining stain use nail-varnish remover on a cloth and rub in circles from the outside in, to dissolve what's left and remove it. If it's a nylon carpet, the nail-varnish remover might not be a good idea. I don't know if it would dissolve the fibres it but it might. In that case I would use orange oil or eucalyptus oil instead of the nail-varnish remover. Good luck.

Should your finger nail polish match your toe nail polish?
I am trying to find this season's trend.Should your finger nail polish match your toe nail polish?
I guess it kind of depends on the situation. If you are going to something even a little formal, you want matching (and probably nude shades.)
For day-to-day, it doesn't matter. I find it fun to kind of complement colors. Using the same color, but a darker shade on my toes for example.Should your finger nail polish match your toe nail polish?
i think the fact that someone called brittany described it as 'super cute' answers your question. its TOO co ordinated and fashion conscious. and also, its soooooo matchy matchy, its the nail version of a sweater set, or a denim jacket with jeans
go for complementing contrasting. ie red toes, natural pink toes. or hot pink fingers, light pink toes. you get the idea.
i generally go for bright toes, casual fingers or vice versa. if you have a french manicure, have a 'fun' colour on your toes so you don't look over the top and overly groomed.
I think it can go both ways, it depends on what your doing. I think its really fun and cute to mix it up. But if your going to an event wearing open toed shoes, please match it ..in a formal setting the mismatch will look tacky. but for the beach or shopping or just out it looks cute mismatched.
no! toes are an anything goes area- each toe can be different or have designs... fingernails have to be presentable in any situation you'll be in, say work church whatever is your norm, so if you have to have conservative hands, go wild on your toes
It's completely up to you. :) A lot of people think that it looks cute to have them match, but there's no fashion or beauty rule that says they need to.
it can go either way i match mine and sometimes i do my toes one color and nails different color
it shoudnt be totally opposite! (Like a dark colour and than bright colour!?) manicures are perfect!
Most defenitley should!!!!
Mine never match except for special events and stuff, so I guess its just whatever you like
Yes. They dont have to but i always match mine i think it looks super cute!
Yes, or at least have them as close as possible.
I think it should, or it might look too tawdry!
ive had black toenails and yellow fingernails b4 it looks really cool

Is there anyway to remove nail polish from carpet?
Don't use nail polish remover unless it does not contain acetone. That area in the carpet would turn white. I found out that using a combination of NON-CHLORINE bleach and a touch of dish soap works well. Only one problem, that part of the carpet will be clean -- the rest? Mix 1/3 cup of the non chlorine bleach, a good squeeze of dish soap in 1 cup of water. MIX, MIX, add a few drops, let it sit (5min) get a wash cloth, dip in mix, rub, dip and rub, it will disappear. Next, you may have to clean the carpet (haha)Is there anyway to remove nail polish from carpet?

Nail polish remover?
Try WD-40 it takes everything out.
nail polish remover- non acetone- it should work
nail polish remover should work pretty well.
I recently had this dilema myself. I looked online %26amp; a carpet cleaning guy said to take fingernail polish remover and put it on a rag %26amp; dab the rag on the spots where the fingernail polish is located on the carpet. You must make sure not to pour the fingernail polish remover directly on the carpet or it will discolor the carpet %26amp; ruin the backing. I used a wet rag...poured the nail polish remover on the rag %26amp; then dabbed it on the carpet. You may have to do this several times %26amp; be sure to use a clean part of the rag each time you dab the place on the carpet. It worked for me!

Is it safe to use nail polish remover on leather???
i got white out on leather??Is it safe to use nail polish remover on leather???
Basically you have redyed the leather. If the white out will not peel off then it will need to be removed with solvents which will also remove finish and pigment which will then need replacing.
This job is best left to a qualified leather technician.
Please do not try using nail varnish remover as this will definitely damage the finish on your leather.

NOOOO! Use warm water on a rag and lightly rub, rinsing the rag often. If that doesn't work, take it to a leather cleaner. Polish remover will pull the dye from the leather!
Absolutely not. It will fade the color and dry the leather. Your best best would be to try a reputable Dry Cleaner. I know it can be costly but, to me, it would be worth it, considering the alternatives.

i spilled bright pink nail polish on my white sweatpants that were like $60 and i tried using nail polish remover but that didnt work is there anyother way??Is there anyway to get nail polish out of clothes?
Good luck. That's why I don't wear white. Is there anyway to get nail polish out of clothes?
Apply nail polish remover. Once you鈥檝e doused the area with remover, scrub with a stiff nail brush.
Move on to soapy water. Put warm soapy water into a container and douse the area with it. Scrub some more with a stiff brush.
Bring in the paper towels. When you鈥檙e applying any of the three removers, especially the soapy water, you鈥檒l probably get more than you need on the fabric. Use the paper towels to blot up any excess.

Is it safe to use nail polish and hair dye during pregnancy?
Today my husband asked me if nail polish is safe for me to use during my pregnancy because of the fumes. I remember hearing that hair dye isn't safe either during pregnancy but I dont' remember if it was from a reliable source or not. I've tried looking it up on the internet but can't find a clear answer. Is it safe to use nail polish and hair dye during pregnancy?
It's fine to color your hair when you are pregnant. The only problem is that your hormones have changed, which changes your hair, which can make your color not what it was supposed to be.
Some people say that the chemicals can be absorbed into your skin and can harm the baby, but no studies have been done on it, which is why some doctors will say to stay away from it for the first trimester. If you normally color your hair, and it makes you feel better about yourself, then do it and don't worry about it.
Fingernail polish and remover are fine. Just use them in a well ventilated area. You don't want to breath the fumes and pass out. But the chemicals won't hurt your baby.
Trust me, not only as a medical professional, but also as a cosmotologist. I have colored many peoples hair when they are pregnant, and when I was pregnant, and had mine done when I was pregnant and both my babies are fine.
If you are worried about it, talk to your doctor. Is it safe to use nail polish and hair dye during pregnancy?
I say you first consult your doctor.
Us women when pregnant should be careful with any little thing we do. Remember, you have human being inside you.
Their are people that have allergic affects for nail polish and everyone has a different body, and maybe your baby is allergic to something as like nail polish. Always consult your doctor, he is the most reliable person for this kind of situation!
:) Have a beautiful BABY!
P.S. Do you know yet what is it going to be?
i got my hair done when i was 7 months pregnant....i asked my doctor first, and he gave me the ok...
You really need to be careful about these kinds of products. You may want to ask your doctor about that. Also, check on the labels to see if they're safe for pregnancies, they usually have it listed. Best of luck to you and your baby..........
Read on the lable or call poison control
Anything that inters your body inters your babys body.
Hair dye is a definite no-no during at least the first trimester.
I actually was wondering the same thing about nail polish and nail polish remover.
no i don't think so....... that's not good for the baby, because the smell.. its too strong ..
I looked into it as well while pregnant...acording to my stylist...the only way that the hair dye was going to hurt you was if you cut your scalp open, and poured the dye directly in your scalp...as for nail polish, you aren't sniffing it long enough to be a problem. Check with your Dr if you are unsure, and get their advice. I dyed my hair(twice during my pregnancy), and went to the salon to have manicures and pedicures...and no problems with my child
It is safe. Just read the instructions clearly. Make sure use in a ventilated area or better yet outside. You should be a beautiful, glowing mom-to-be.
NAIL POLISH SHOULD BE OK. HAIR DYE HAVE SEVERAL CHEMICALS IN IT THAT MAY BE HARM FULL. THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO CALL THE POISON CONTROL NUMBER IN YOUR AREA. GIVE THEM THE MANE AND TYPE OF HAIR DYE THAT YOU USE AND THE CAN GIVE YOU THE INFORMATION THAT YOU REQUEST.
In truth; hair dye is only safe during pregnancy when used to streak hair out from the scalp area. Nail polish is not safe Research online
I died my hair when I was pregnant with my first and never heard that it would harm the baby. I have never heard that nail polish would hurt the baby. If you are really concerned you should ask your doctor that would be your best source of info.
I have never heard anything about that
It is perfectly fine I was pregnant during cosmetolgy school and was around these chemicals everyday. ~Bon
